Chapter 3

“So how many others live here?” I asked Dario as he opened the front door.

“Me, my parents sometimes stay and a few others…” He was very vague, he sounded like he was hiding something.

When I was human, I was a shy girl and didn’t really have anything to do with men.

Yes, I went out and drank, but not much more than that.
But afterwards I changed, I had no one. I had no choice but to adapt and that’s what I did.

“A bit vague, aren’t we. So is anyone here tonight?” I said trying to lighten Mr. Bipolar’s mood.

“A couple of people,” He seemed distracted.

‘Forever vague,’ I rolled my eyes.

We stopped in a large hall.

“Wow, this is … Very regal isn’t it,” I said looking around the hall and taking in all the small fine details.

“Hmm, I guess, thanks,” He said sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck.

He stood watching me as I walked around and looked at the house in awe.

“Bring a lot of women back, do you?” I don’t even know why I asked that.

He stopped me and looked at me seriously, “No, why do you ask that?” He sounded concerned, but I just shrugged.

He opened his mouth as if to speak, but was cut off by a masculine voice calling to him.

“Dario…” A tall wall of a man stepped out of the room to the side but stopped both speaking and walking when he saw me.

The man looked to be in his twenties, but was built like a wrestler or something.

I would be scared if I were human.

He had looked at me curiously, with a serious expression before Dario cleared his throat.

“Yes, Mariusz?” He said the man, who I guess is Mariusz.

“Hmm…” He looked between me and Dario and then smiled knowingly.

“The one or other?” He asked in an amused tone.

I heard Dario growl and not a little growl.

He sighed deeply and looked at me.

“Can you just wait here a minute, I’ll be right back,” He asked me regrettably.

I nodded and he smiled. “I promise, I will only be a minute,” And he places a sweet kiss on my forehead, surprising his friend, if his expression is anything to go by.

He then walked into the room follow shortly by the man.

I was thankful they didn’t go too far, so I could still hear them thanks to me vampire hearing.

“Don’t give me that look,” I heard a hushed, but annoyed Dario say.

“So, you taking up one night stands or is this something else?” A voice I recognized as Mariusz said, sounding amused.

Dario didn’t answer.

“If it’s just a one night thing, you can leave her here and I’ll have her after you, she’s pretty hot. Mask and all,” I could tell by his tone he was teasing Mario, trying to get a reaction.

“You touch her and I will tear your throat out,” Dario yelled, followed by a bang.

I was shocked by his reaction, after all, we had just met.
I had to hold myself back, to not go and see what happened.

There were a few seconds of silence then the sound of Mariusz laughing.

“So she’s ‘it’ hey?” He asked.

I heard no reply, but by what Mariusz said next I guess Dario nodded or something.

“How did you find her?”

“You can’t guess by the masks?” Dario sounded sarcastic.

“I was wondering man. But I thought maybe after all these years you had gotten some kind of fetish,” Mariusz laughed and so did Dario.

“What happened? We heard a bang?” I heard hurried footsteps from a couple of people.

“A bit late,” Mariusz sounded cold.
“You are lucky this time, but what if something had really happened,” Dario scolded.

“Sorry, sir,” The two unknown men said.

“What’s that smell?” One of the strangers said.

“Human?” The second man asked in a questioning tone.

Before anyone else could say anything, I heard the sound of run.

“Oh, shit! Stop him!” Dario yelled in a panic.

Suddenly without anyone warning, a man appears in front of me.

“What the fuck?! You scared the hell out of me!” I scold the man.

But he doesn’t say anything, he just lurches at with almost insane look on his face.

He grabs me, but I am quick to react.
I grabbed hold of the man’s arm and threw him against the wall, knocking him out.

The whole incident lasted less than five seconds but seemed longer.

Only then do I hear more hurried footsteps and then silence.

I turned to see Dario, Mariusz and another man standing just inside the doorway staring down at the now unconscious first unknown man.

“What happened?” Dario asked sounding as shocked as the others looked.

I was never that good at lying, even now.

I mean, I don’t normally lie, after all it’s not as if my victims ever asked if I am going to kill them or if I am a vampire.

I quickly think of something to say.

“Um… He is crazy I think… He just run in and ran into the wall.”

‘Yeah, good job, Marie,’ I think sarcastically.

“Seriously?” Mariusz asked, I can tell by his tone and everyone’s expressions, they know I’m lying.

“You are a rubbish liar,” Dario states.

“OK, so maybe I might have thrown him at the wall. But I had too, I think his on drugs,” I looked down, while shuffled my feet.

After a few seconds of silence, I look up to see everyone looking more shocked than before.

“It’s not that unbelievable” I mumbled under my breath.

“How did you do that? I mean you’re tiny and he is…” The second man starts to say but doesn’t finish.

“Can’t you tell?” I try to sound serious.

“Know, what?” Dario looked curious with his head tipped to the side slightly.

I somehow manage to keep a straight face, “I’m a …” I pause for suspense, “Superhero.”

Dario raises an eyebrow and smirks, “You see now? I got a mask and everything.” Still keeping a straight face.

“Really?” The second man asks.
I nod in reply.
A big smile goes on his face, “That is so cool. A real super hero,” He grins.

Both Dario and Mariusz look at him as if he had gone crazy.

The man walks closer and stops in front of me, “Can you fly?”

“Really?” I ask, not believing someone could be so trusting.

He nods.

I look over his shoulder and look at Dario and whisper to him from behind my hand, “Did you never tell your friend superheroes and Santa isn’t real?”

They both laugh.

Then I look back to the other man and pat him on the shoulder.

Dario walks over and takes my hand and pulls me away from the man.
I look at him, “What?”

“You cannot touch him,” He said seriously.

“I’m sorry. What is he your boyfriend or something?” I mean it in all seriousness.

Mariusz burst out laughing, whilst the second man, tried to wake the first up.

Every now and then looking at me in awe.

‘Alright, that’s a bit creepy,’ I thought.

“What?” Dario looked at me with furrowed eyebrows.

“No!” He sounds angry.

I smirk at his reaction but try to hide it.

“If you say so…” I say in a nonchalant tone.

His seem to darken slightly or I guess it could just be a light.

He takes me by the hand and begins to drag me towards the stairs.

“What are you doing?” I yell.

“I’m going to prove to you.”

With that he picks me up bridal style and continues up the stairs.

“You were moving too slow,” He states coldly.

I heard Mariusz laughing as go.

I fold my arms across my chest.

“I can walk, you know?”

He doesn’t answer and continues to walk, until we reached a large oak door.

“We are here” he said opening the door and walks in, closing the door with his foot, to reveal a large bedroom, in the center a giant four post bed.

Dario walked over to the bed and place me down.
I try to get up, but he stops me.
I try again, but the same thing happens.

He looks me up and down.

“Take your mask off!” He orders me.
I do as his asks, whilst he watches me.

“You are so beautiful.” He leaned in closer and ran his cold fingers down my warm face.

That is another thing that makes me different from normal vampires.

“You are so cold” I say, he quickly goes to pull away, but I stop him.
I reach up to take off his mask.

“Don’t.”

“Why?”

“Just don’t.”

I think for a minute.

“Ah, I understand,” I say, nodding to myself. “You don’t want me to recognize you once I leave.”

“You will not be leaving! You are mine mine!” He growls.

‘Just my luck. I got a crazy one here,’ I roll my eyes.

“And how are you meant to stop me?” I tease.

Not scared in the slightest.

I see a glint in his eye.

“Like this,” He grabs my arms and chains my arms to the bed.

I don’t fight.

“Kinky, aren’t we?” He seems surprised by my reaction.

“Why are you scared?”

“Should I be? Do you want to scare me?” I question him. I can play scare.

“No, I just don’t want you to leave me,” He said almost sadly.

I laugh, “Well, this isn’t really a good way to start. You could have ask, I might said yes.”

“You would have?” He asks hopeful.

I sigh looking away and put on an expression of mock hurt. “I guess we’ll never know now.”

I look up at Dario who is now wearing a distressed look.

“Why do you want me to stay so bad?” I want to get some answers, before getting free. Which I could do in a second.

“You wouldn’t believe me.”

“Try me, I mean it’s not as if I’m going anywhere,” I shake the chains for affect.

He looks and me and sighs.

“I guess you’re right. There are many things out there people don’t know about and can never,” He sits next to me and runs his cold fingers up and down my arm.

“What are you trying to say?” I was getting confused by his cryptic answers.

He sighs again and runs his hand through his hair. “I don’t want to scare you.”

“If you chaining me to a bed doesn’t scare me, I think I will be okay,” I laugh, he looks and agrees.

“Why aren’t you scared?”

“I promise, if you tell me what I want to know then I’ll tell you,” I wink at him.

He growls and places a single kiss on my lips.

Even though it was only short, it was like nothing I had ever felt before.
It was the best feeling ever, I wanted more. But I still want answers first.

“You felt that?” I nod.
He was still only inches from my face and now instead of touching my arm, was touching my cheek.

“You are my beloved,” He tells me with a smile.

I thought for a minute. It sounded familiar.
‘Wait a second, where have I heard that before?’

“Beloved?”
