Chapter 10

“When we first came to town, I made it no secret of my gender problems.” Kennedy began to explain.

“At first some of the locals were judgmental, others just blanked me. My sister already owned the pub when we moved here. Some of her regulars included a gang of bikers called The District Crew. I spent most nights there. The bikers were respected and feared by the locals. No one messes with them.” A small smile made it’s way to her face and they both sat on the edge of the bed.

“They were there most of the time when I was. They hated the way the locals shunned me and one day one of the men surprised me and everyone by approaching me. Apparently it was a big thing because they don’t really speak with the locals unless they have too. The guy was Clive.”

“Is he like a leader?” Emily spoke for the first time in a couple of minutes.
“No. Unlike most gangs, they don’t really have a leader. But he was one of the older members at fifty. He told me he and his guys had noticed how everyone treated me. I explained to him about me and that my sister was the landlady of the pub and that’s why I spent so much time there. He was really understanding and surprisingly nice. He was shocked to learn that I was in fact a male. At that point I was only taking hormones but still had a slight chest.

“To cut a long story short, he took me over to meet his gang. They were all great too. Yes, they were shocked too, but all were accepting. In the beginning a couple even came on to me, men and women. But they all learned quickly it wasn’t going to happen and we were better friends than anything. They all became like a second family to me. Even the locals started to speak to me. In the beginning I think it was just because they were scared of the bikers, but in time a lot actually apologized saying that they had been hasty and misjudged me.”

She pulled Emily closer to her and kissed the side of her neck. “Now you are here too, things are perfect. I just can’t wait to finish college and we can live around here permanently. I mean if you want?”

“I would love too,” Emily said quickly. “I want to go and be with you and where you are most happy and if that is here great. It is beautiful.”

Kennedy smile brightened “Good. Now, are you feeling better? Still sore?”

“Much better thanks.”
Her phone beeped again and she picked it up and replied to the message.

“You still want to go to the pub right?” She doubled checked.
“Yes. If you say they are good people, then yes,” Emily told her.
“Good. Now lets go down before my mum or dad come up again.”

A short time later the two arrived downstairs. Most of the house which Emily had seen was decorated in furniture to match the Georgian era, but with obvious modern touches.

“Kenny!” Her mum almost squealed when they entered the front living room. Emily was holding her hand but lagging behind her slightly.

Despite agreeing to come downstairs, she was still nervous as hell.
Her dad’s head snapped up and looked to the door.

Both stood up and rushed over, hugging their daughter.
Her dad was only about an inch taller than Kennedy and her mum the same height as Emily. Kennedy had her mum’s eyes, but her dad’s hair colour.

“Hello Darling,” Her dad greeted his daughter.
After a second her mum pulled back, saw Emily and grinned, going over and pulling her into a hug too.
“Hello. I’m so happy to meet you.”
“Mum!” Kennedy whined.
Her dad chuckled, “Pat, let the poor girl go.”

She pulled back and stood next to her husband who held out his hand.
“Hello love. Sorry about her. She just is a little excited. I’m Kenny’s dad, Richard, but you can call me Dick.” Emily took his hand and shook it, smiling shyly.

“Hello. It’s okay. I’m Emily.”
“Dolly,” Her girlfriend corrected smiling and again standing beside her, again holding her hand.

“This is my wife, Patricia, Kenny’s mum,” He introduced his wife.
“You can call me Pat or mum. Your choice.”
“Mum. Stop it. You already embarrassed her coming into the bathroom.”

Ignoring her daughter she pointing to one of the sofas. “Take a seat and we can get to know you. Catch up.”

Reluctantly, Kennedy and Emily sat down on a sofa opposite her parents.
“Oh, she is so pretty. Don’t you think she is pretty, Dick?”
He chuckled and agreed. “Very. You are a very lucky girl, Kenny.”
“Yes, I am.”

“You and Emily are dating now, aren’t you?” Her mum asked knowingly.
“Yes, mum. Emily is my girlfriend.”

She squealed like a school girl. “I knew it. Didn’t I tell you?!” She said to her husband who was just sat chuckling.
“I knew you liked her. All you do is talk about her.” She paused as if thinking something and then her mouth gaped like a fish.
“Kenny,” She said slowing making her husband pay attention. “Have you been doing muckies and got Emily pregnant? Because if you have you will have to marry her.”

Kennedy’s eyes widen, “Mum, no, I haven’t got her pregnant. We only started dating a few days ago.”

Emily was looking down shyly. “But you have liked each other longer? And why were you asking if you could make babies?”

“Pat, let her be,” Her husband whispered, knowing how his wife despite not being angry, can sometime seem it when she is being nosy.

“No, dad, it’s okay,” Kennedy snapped not realizing her mother wasn’t angry, but in fact was really happy at the prospect of her daughter having a child.

She stood up, pull Emily with her and to her side. “I love Emily very much and she loves me. Yes, we liked each other and yes, I did ask you that. But not because she is, but because I want to try and get her pregnant. If you don’t like it, it’s tough because I have no plans of ever losing her. I am going to marry her when I can and we are going to have as many children as she will let me give her.”

“Oh, Kenny,” Her mum said wiping away a tear.
Her dad had his head in his hands and was silently shaking.

All of a sudden a loud booming laugh echoed through the room from her dad as her mum rushed over again and hugged both women.

“I am so happy, darlings. I’m sorry for getting you mad. You are just like your father, so quick tempered.”

Kennedy rolled her eyes and mouthed ‘sorry’ to Emily who was fighting back a grin.
“Mum, I love you. But you are a complete weirdo and pain in the backside sometime,” She said fighting her own grin.

Patricia pulled back, “I know, darling. But I am going to have another daughter and not to mention more grandkids,” She began her ramblings.
“You like this house, right, Emily?” Pat asked Emily.

“Urm, Yes?” She answered more like a question. Then looked to Kennedy who was smirking knowingly.
“Good… Great. You two will marry and live here,” She announced. “Oh, it will be so great having children running around.”

“Dad?” Kennedy looked to her dad for help.

He stood up, still laughing and hugged his wife to his side.
“Honey, calm down. They still have college and Kenny hasn’t officially asked her,” He said looking at Emily’s bare finger.
“And not to mention, Emily’s family back in Grimsby.”

“She doesn’t speak to her family,” Kennedy told her dad hugging Emily more into her side. Emily gave her at look to say it was alright to tell them.

“I’ll tell you the full story another time. But all you have to know right now is that her mum and step family are insane and shit went down the other day and some truths came out. It’s safe to say Emily doesn’t want anything else to do with them and her dad… Well, her dad left her mum when she was and wanted to carry on seeing his daughter back, but again her mum told her loads of lies and moved away so he couldn’t find them and now she has just found out the truth and has no idea where he is. And that’s the short of it,” She finished, kissing the top of Emily’s head.

Her parents looked apologetic, “Well, she is part of our family now and she can tell us whatever, when she is good and ready,” Her dad reassured her making Emily glassy eyed.

“Thank you. You guys are great.”
“Aww. It’s no problem,” Her mum said smiling. But Patricia was never one too know when to stop.

“But this means you can move here now.”
“Pat…”
“Yes. Yes. I know,” She said waving her hand dismissively.

“I have it all planned,” Kennedy rolled her eyes. “They can go back to Grimsby get their things, bring them back here. Whilst they are doing that, me and your dad will contact and arrange you both transferring from Grimsby college to the local one here. They do the same course, I am sure it will be no problem. Lastly, the wedding,” She took a deep breath and grinned as she reached in her pocket and pulled out an old looking velvet ring box.

“This is for you.” She handed it to Kennedy.

Removing her arms for Emily, she took the box and opened it to reveal an antique style solid silver ring with a natural opal and a blue topaz either side and swirl patterns around the edges of the stones.

“This is…” She looked for the ring to her mum gobsmacked.
“Yes. It is the ring you said you like,” She confirmed.

“Yes… When I was twelve. How?”
Patricia smiled and stroked her daughter’s cheek.

“Darling, we have always known you were special and we knew no matter what you would take yourself a beautiful bride, who you loved,” She spoke as she remembered.

“One thing you were always certain of was that you would only ever date the one woman you would marry and finish the rest of your life with. You always said that from when you was my tiny baby boy, to more recently my gorgeous little girl. I bought this ring soon after you saw it and saved it for this day.”

Kennedy looked to her dad. “Nothing to do with me. You know your mum has always been a romantic. But I do agree with her.”

“Mum, dad. I love you.” She was the one launching herself into their arms.
“Does that mean you’re going to do it?” She laughed and rolled her eyes. “Mum,” She said pulling back again.
“Thank you for the ring. I love it. As for everything else. I will speak with Emily about it.”

“But…”
“Mum, Really. I love you. We’ll be back later. Dad try and calm mum,” Kennedy said taking Emily’s hand.

“Okay, darling.” He moved forwards and gives them both a hug.
“Welcome to the family, love,” He whispered to Emily and then leaned and whispered. “I expect to see that ring in it’s rightful place when you return.” Then pulled back.

“Don’t worry, you will,” She answered but returning his smile.

“Where are you going?”
“We are just going to the pub to see Angelina and the guys. See you later, mum, dad. Love you.” The couple left the room and Kennedy led them to a cupboard.

Inside was a couple of racks full of jackets and coats.
“Hmm, I’ll wear this,” She said pulling out a women’s black short, slim, zip up leather jacket with collar.
“And this for you.” She grabbed a women blazer style black leather biker jacket.
She took the jacket and put it on.

“You look so hot in leather,” Kennedy purred, as her eyes raked over her lovers body.
“Thanks, so do you,” Her eyes doing the same.

As they left the house Kennedy quickly ran upstairs and then back down with her purse and keys.

“Going. See you,” She called to her parents.
“Bye darling, Emily,” They both called back.
“Bye,” Emily’s sweet voice called back.

Just as they opened they hear her parents, who must of thought they had already left.
“She is really nice. I like her,” Her dad said.
“I agree and she is so pretty.”
He agreed, “Yes, together they will make a lot of heart breakers.”
“Yes. I am really happy Kenny found her. I don’t think we have ever seen her so happy,” Her mum paused for a second. “And she has great boobs for breastfeeding.”

Kennedy’s face went bright red, as did Emily. They quickly left the house. But instead of going to her car, Kennedy led her to a garage around the side.

“Sorry about that, doll,” She said as they entered the garage.
“It’s okay, Ken. She is funny and they both are nice.”
“I’m glad you think.” Kennedy stopped abruptly in front of her, letting go of her hand.

Emily’s smile dropped and for a second she started to worry she had done something wrong until she saw Kennedy drop to her knee in front of her.
